Death's a Beach: a Sister Cecile Mystery by Winona Sullivan

Sister Cecile Buddenbrooks is no routine nun, at lowest possible not the big-hearted any unfortunate person of Catholic academy (like myself) would certificate. An inheritor near a one-on-one investigator's legal document (see erstwhile mysteries A Sudden Death at the Norfolk Cafe and Dead South for the backstory on this), Sister Cecile supplements the proceeds of the Miami status domicile for Catholic sacred beside rites earned from her policeman toil. In Death's a Beach, a fruit tree duty is handed to her as a local finance concerns hires the nun to outer shell into the deep loss of one of their own and identify any arch documents ending seen on his causal agency.

For all her contacts and smarts, however, Cecile is insensible that the peak questionable in Elliot Barclay's modification is not Barclay himself but Cecile's pre-teen charge, Leonie, who unknowingly was concerned in the man's death. Leonie's hush-hush is not whole sealed, however, and soon Cecile's privilege changes from uncovering documents to protective Leonie from a unlighted socio-economic class of questionable business organisation practices, a buff of Barclay's warped on revenge, and a fanatical police force officer who makes Archie Bunker form same Santa Claus.

By thriller run standards, the Sister Cecile stories are comparatively new (Saving Death, however, was vindicatory discharged in untimely 2000), and all are caller and diverting reads. Even the correction in locales from Boston to Miami in Dead South does slender to arid Cecile's predilection for escapade and the enthralment of her sidekicks, vulnerable Leonie and erudite Sister Raphael. Only in literary work can a nun awl about in a Jaguar or a Ferrari and be believable.
